with vocalists Matt Bean and Kitty Karn

Dr. Matt Bean is professor of musical theatre and voice at Western Illinois University, Macomb, IL. In 2003, he helped create their Bachelor of Fine Arts program in music theatre. Bean has conducted and served as the music director for more than 35 musicals, his most recent were Once on This Island, A Man of No Importance, Seussical, and All Shook Up. Addionally, he staged Carmen in French and La Bohème in Italian for Opera Quad Cities. Bean’s roles have included Dr. Neville Craven in The Secret Garden and the title role in Sweeney Todd. During his sabbatical, he composed an eclectic cyle of nine songs for baritone and piano, giving performances in Seattle, Atlanta and Provo.
Kitty Karn, assistant professor of voice/musical theatre at Western Illinois University, Macomb, IL. Prior to arriving in Macomb, she resided in Houston, TX for twenty years where she performed professionally with Theatre Under the Stars, Stages Repertory Theatre, Main Street Theatre, Houston Grand Opera and Opera-to-go. In 1998, Karn traveled with The Gilbert and Sullivan Society of Houston to the International Gilbert and Sullivan Festival in Buxton, England where she won Best Supporting Actress for her portrayal of Phoebe in The Yeomen of the Guard. She returned with the Society to the Festival in 2004 as Chorus Master for The Mikado, taking home the award for Best Chorus.
