Among its many national, state and local accolades, the outstanding legacy of the Knox-Galesburg Symphony has been consistently recognized by the Illinois Council of Orchestras (ICO). In addition to having received the ICO's prestigious 2008 Cultural Leadership of the Year Award, the ICO has honored the KGS 16 times in 9 different categories including Illinois Conductor of the Year twice and Programming of the Year Award to Dr. Polay, and the KGS is a three-time recipient of the Illinois Orchestra of the Year Award, most recently in 2008.
